September and October are THE months to be on the island, as the beaches are usually pretty heavy with migrating Striped Bass heading south, so you’ve got great timing, as it’s just getting started.
A medium to heavy 8 or 10 ft. spinning combo will work fine, and the best bait for these fish is always live fish, be it porgies,( menhaden), herring, peanut bunker, etc., live is always better. Find out whats working when you get there. Use a sliding bottom rig with the appropriate weight and hook and throw a live fish out as far as you can and you should be able to snatch one up.
PS. Night time is always best as Bass are nocturnal feeders, but don’t make the mistake of shining your lights directly on the water, as this will spook most fish, same as a lantern on the beach. Use a light to tend to your gear while facing away from the water, it will make a big difference.

I am 15, I share the dream with ya, only I am playing in the MLB for the Milwaukee Brewers and design and make rifles, lures, and jigs on my own time,. What I would do, is when your in high school, look for intro to business classes and business math (not really sure what it was called). They go over what you will need, how to manage money, pay for employees ( I wouldn’t have employees because I love bait shops so much), pricing of product, advertisement, tax on the building, licensing and things of that nature. It sounds like A LOT to learn, but its really not all that hard. Maybe when we graduate I can sell some of my lures and jigs in your bait shop. All ya gotta do is set your goal and really stick to it.

Starting a business takes a lot of money and time, and then it takes time to build up a customer base to help you pay for it. You’d be better off working in a shop, learning the business and saving your money, then buying an existing business, which will at least provide you with the basic facilities and a customer base.

Well just got it !! Have not yet used it but thay do put them on surf rods so thay must cast well we are going out here in a couple weeks I will let u know ????
